heavy pause filled breathlessness what is the opposite of breathless it isn’t breathing more like

breathing underwater chest closed heart open that’s how they stab you through the ribcage up

past where you used to breathe is this breathing or is it only waiting

Rae Rozman is a middle school counselor in Austin, Texas. New to the world of others reading her work, she has poems published in the Stonewall’s Legacy poetry anthology. She often uses writing to explore themes of queer love (romantic and platonic), brain injury, and education. An INFJ and science fiction aficionado, you can often find her curled up in a corner with a book. She enjoys spending time with her partner and their two rescue bunnies and loathes horror movies and watermelon.
