Artist Statement:

Many of my recent drawings work in counterpoint to my stories, less illustrative than prompt, evocation or suggestion. I like working with very limited materials (pencil, pen) in a manner that minimizes, for me, the space between impulse and image. Figuration is a natural choice for me, but usually in the service of something closer to dreams.

Gregg Williard is a writer and visual artist. He is a teacher of English as a Second Language for refugees at the non-profit Literacy Network in Madison, Wisconsin. He also does a late night book reading show on WORT radio, “Fiction Jones.”  A Pushcart Prize nominee, his work has been published or is forthcoming in The Collagist, Diagram, Raleigh Review, New England Review, Shenandoah, and Fiction International, among others. His drawings were the recent subject of a one-person exhibition at the Ohio State University Lima Gallery in Lima, Ohio.
