Born in northeast Louisiana, Cindy Cooper Blair holds a B.F.A in studio art from Louisiana State University and a M.F.A. from the State University of New York at Albany. She obtained her Advanced Certificate in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute. While at Pratt, she discovered puppetry, studying under visual artist and theater director, Theodora Skipitares. Currently, in her role as teaching artist and museum educator at the Alexandria Museum of Art, Cindy creates large scale parade puppets for community processions and productions. In her studio she creates illuminated sculptures inspired by science fiction and forms in nature.
