Artist Statement:

I have taken photographs on trips all around the world, but especially love the opportunities offered by today’s cellphone cameras to capture the exquisite but fleeting visual imagery of everyday moments. These grayscale pictures were taken using my iPhone near my home in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita, Kansas.

Roy Beckemeyer, of Wichita, Kansas is a retired engineer, a poet, and a photographer who has travelled the world with camera and journal. One of his areas of specialty is macrophotography of insects. His photographic work was featured in the 2017 issue of Konza Journal. A sample of his photographs appears on his author’s page. He is also a book editor and designer; he did the interior and cover composition and design for Buried in the Suburbs by Jamie Lynn Heller (Woodley Press, 2018), and for Kansas Time+Place (Roy Beckemeyer & Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, Editors, Little Balkans Press, 2017).
