BROKEN CHORDS UNDER A FULL MOON
After The Blue Violonist by Chagall
Seated on a chair, an amber violin on his shoulder, he awaits, night after night, before striking
the chords of a melody composed just for her. He sits sideways, leaving space for his crimson
bouquet. Will she come tonight he asks the swollen moon? But she seems unmoved by his
hunger for comforting words. He stares for hours at the opaline face while his cheeks redden at
the sight of the love doves resting on his lap. When his bow takes on a life of its own, startled by
his arpeggio, doves split, ready to leave in different directions as he feels the pull of a blue cloud
lifting him over rooftops. Feverish, he soars closer to the orb, scattering petals in search of a
sign. Will he try again tomorrow with a new tune?
