Laurie Kuntz

COPACETIC

It means in excellent order.
It’s order we search
for as the years pile like silver and copper coins
thrown randomly in an open mouth glass jar.

And, for most, order is collected
in the chronology of the making–
the retelling of stories, each tale rimmed
with knowledge that good can be gilded
in every simple task:

quiet dinners, long walks, the dog fetching sticks and bones.

I think I will stop here.
So much good that for a moment,
we can stare straight
into that ordered light
and not be blinded.
