Artist Statement:
The mirror-image approach allows me to let the acrylic ink go in the direction it chooses without my controlling the result. The image sets its own boundaries—I like the crisp demarcation lines against the white space—and if something reveals itself, I take it from there. This process allows me to be open to wonder because there are dimensions beyond what I could predict. This results in a surprise for me and hopefully the observer.
