Artist Statement: The creative process of my work stems from biographical experiences. My artistic path is like a long journey in search of existential answers. I strongly believe in the comunicative power of art since at some point of my life I have faced many challenges and art helped me to find away out, in a sense it was my salvation. I also believe in the interpenetration of disciplines andin the intercultural exchange that can arise between different cultures, in inclusivity and freeexpression of the individual. My art production revolves around themes related to historical,social and environmental justice.My immaginary figures are inspired by myths and archetypes of ancient populations representing symbols of freedom of expression, spiritual and cultural renaissance. These figures often stand out from dark backgrounds to focus all the attention on the subject/symbol. They are depicted in hermetic expressions to emphasize the need for psychological introspection. The representation of these characters reflect the interest for unconscious and intrinsic content that influence human expression. Vincenzo Cohen is an Italian multidisciplinary and social artist. He earned the MA from Fine Arts Academy and the BA in Archaeology from “La Sapienza” University in Rome. Hispaintings address different issues including social and environmental justice, human rights, fight against hate speech and prevarication of power, representation of unconscious content that influence the human expression. Over the years the artist has collaborated with international university magazines for the creation of covers and interior art.
