A Note for Our Founding Editor

MockingHeart friends! Thanks for keeping up with our side of the literary world, and for your time and care in reading and submitting to MHR. A reminder that the Fall 2025 issue is now open to submissions.

As you think of writing and of the folks who engage in it, please keep in your thoughts MockingHeart Review‘s Founding Editor, Clare L. Martin, who is currently fighting the good fight against gallbladder cancer. If you can contribute to her battle during this difficult time, you would be helping a generous writer and caring person who has touched many lives. Of course, Clare would also appreciate some words of encouragement if you have the time to reach out.

Thanks for all you do, friends, and for your continuing good work in the world.

Tyler Robert Sheldon, Editor-in-Chief

  1. Hello brave Clare & Helpful Tyler, Clare, you can do this today, in Day One of Recovery. And each day forward! BRAVA! to you! I know of complex cancer as I know the lines in my palm, having now only one remaining lone kidney, the cancerous one removed, & helped also with treatments & test as a result of Istage V cancer. I”m no med. pro, but I would seriously consider taking the pain meds, prescribed ,& take anti-inflamation meds prescribed. These may help you recover. I’m so pleased you have a great healer-physician. I too am fortunate with a great team of MDs & the support crew. Do you know these titles, Ramshackle Ode, by Keith Leonard, Transplant, Transport Transbutantiation by Marjorie Maddox, Fugitive Pigments from Ruth Bavetta & Old Bones & True Stories from Dina Standler. These are beacons for me, among many more famous, others, especially the Mark Twain humore award books & ceremony videos. Laughter brought into my medical settings is often as crucial as all the other assistances. Bless. You.
