Coming Next Week to the MHR blog!

Happy Thursday, MockingHeart friends!

We hope you’re having a fantastic week so far. Thanks for reading our most recent issue, MHR 8.3! I wanted to pass you a note about some exciting work coming your way on Beats, the MHR blog.

Keep a lookout next Wednesday (11/1/2023), for a new conversation with poet Faith Ellington! Watch this space for a lively discussion of academia, new poetry collections, the political act of writing poetry and the nuances of the writing process, and more. This is a conversation you won’t want to miss.

Thanks again for helping to make MockingHeart Review a vibrant and enjoyable magazine. And thank you as well, friends, for your excellent work in the world.

Can you believe it’s already Fall? That time of year where the northern hemisphere moves, inevitably, toward a refreshing chill–mornings get crisper, the afternoon light takes on a comforting yellow hue that suggests sweaters and fireplaces. Bring it on, I say.

Enjoy your weekend, friends! Thanks again for the excellent work you do in the world.

Cheers,

We’re already in the middle of 2023! Submissions are now open for MHR 8.3, the Fall 2023 issue of MockingHeart Review! You can submit from today until August 31.

Our Fall 2023 theme is Inevitability, the certainty of a given thing to occur–what we might call the sureness of a happening’s happening. When you’re ready, send your poetry and/or artwork our way! We look forward to experiencing it.

We hope you’re staying healthy, happy, and inspired. Keep on creating, friends–and as always, thank you for the excellent work you do in the world.

Fall (Themed!) Submissions Open in One Week!

MockingHeart Friends! I hope you’re all faring well this summer–that you’re laughing often and creating with gusto. What a year it’s been so far, and I’m pleased to remind you that MHR opens to submissions for the Fall 2023 issue in a week’s time!

For the upcoming issue (MHR 8.3), we’ll be open for submissions from August 1-31, with an October 1, 2023 publication date. Take some time to reflect and create–because we’d love to see your work this reading period.

Our Fall 2023 theme is Inevitability, which is the certainty of a given thing to occur–the assuredness of a happening’s happening, we might say. This can be interpreted in many different ways and with a myriad of connotations. For instance, if one enjoys poetry, some might think it inevitable that one would eventually find their way to a snazzy little journal called MockingHeart Review. This is a good theme to mull over! When you’re ready, please consider sending your work our way.

Finally: If you haven’t yet taken a peek at our riveting Spring/Summer 2023 issue, please do. Some stellar work await you therein. We just know you’ll enjoy these excellent and varied poems.

Thanks again for being part of the MockingHeart family! Keep up your excellent work in the world, and we’ll talk again soon.

We’re always here when you need a literary and artistic boost, friends, and we look forward to seeing your own submissions when we open again in August.
